San Antonio – St. Mary’s softball player Jared Gonzalez has been named an honorable mention All-American by Daktronics, it was announced Thursday.

Gonzalez, a slugging first baseman from Converse Judson High School, enjoyed quite the sophomore season in her first year as a St. Mary’s Lady Rattler.

In addition to being named an honorable mention All-American, she was named to a pair of All-Region teams (Daktronics and Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association), and was also named the Heartland Conference’s Co-Newcomer of the Year. Gonzalez, of course, also made the All-Heartland Conference First Team.

Gonzalez led St. Mary’s (36-21) in batting average, home runs, RBIs and doubles. She hit .371 with 47 RBIs, seven home runs and 15 doubles on the season. She was also named to the All-Heartland Conference Tournament Team.
