In November 2010, E-Scholars Alexandra McCoy and Dyana Garcia brought home first-place awards from the national Collegiate Entrepreneur Organization’s National Conference in November.

Only 60 students nationwide compete in this highly competitive annual event. English major Alexandra McCoy took first place and $2,500 in the Elevator Pitch Competition. Watch McCoy pitch her business concept – a women’s dress shoe with detachable heels that creates a shoe with 11 different heel height options – which she delivered in 90 seconds, or the length of an average elevator ride.

Marketing major Dyana Garcia won the award for “Best Student Leader” for her leadership role as CEO of Rattler Enterprises, St. Mary’s student managed business housed in the Bill Greehey School of Business.
