SEGUIN, Texas – Expectations have certainly changed for the St. Mary’s cross country program.

Playing in a stacked event featuring several NCAA Division I teams, the Lady Rattlers finished fourth at the Texas Lutheran Invitational on Saturday, running even better times than they did a week ago when they first flashed their new potential by placing second at the Texas A&M International Invitational.

Jessica Waninger (Jr., Santa Claus, Ind.), who won last week’s event, again paced St. Mary’s by finishing 15th with a time of 19 minutes, 26.5 seconds.

St. Mary’s finished three spots better than Heartland Conference foe Texas A&M International in the 10-team, 5k event. Texas-San Antonio won the invitational.

Olivia Lara (Fr., El Paso, Texas) finished 30th in 20:32.7, while Allison Manning (Fr., Mansfield, Texas) placed 32nd in 20:38.7.

St. Mary’s will be at the Abilene Christian University Naimadu Classic next weekend, which will get going at 9 a.m. Saturday in Abilene, Texas.
