San Antonio – The honors keep pouring in for St. Mary’s junior first baseman Tyler Migl, with the latest being a pretty significant one.

Migl, a San Antonio native who graduated from O’Connor High School, has been named the National Hitter of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Migl led the Heartland Conference with a .528 batting average at the time of winning the award, tallying 19 hits through the Rattlers’ first 11 games. His slugging percentage of .944 and on-base percentage of .595 also topped the conference at the start of the week, while half of his hits had gone for extra bases.

Entering Friday’s doubleheader against Oklahoma Panhandle State, Migl led the Rattlers in just about every significant offensive category, including average (.537), runs scored (15), hits (22), doubles (10), home runs (3), RBIs (13) and total bases (41).

St. Mary’s (9-3) entered the day ranked 16th in the nation, including a Heartland Conference-best 6-0 in league play.
