San Antonio – St. Mary’s University sophomore defender Carolyn Martin has been named the Heartland Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Martin, a San Antonio native, played a pivotal role in the Rattlers giving up just one goal over two games last week.

Defensively, St. Mary’s allowed fewer than 10 shots both games (six and eight) and only allowed four corner kicks over the week – thanks in large part to Martin’s fine defensive work.

The Rattlers (6-5-1 overall) rose to No. 8 in the South Central regional rankings last week.
