San Antonio – A quick start was not enough for the St. Mary’s University volleyball team Friday night, as Angelo State University bounced back from an early hole to win out at Bill Greehey Arena.

The Rambelles survived an early scare to nip the Rattlers 3-1 (25-17, 19-25, 17-25, 14-25), handing St. Mary’s just its second loss over the past eight matches.

Mallory Moeller (Jr., Geronimo, Texas) led the Rattlers (12-15) with 11 kills, while Kori McCarver (Sr., San Antonio) pitched in nine kills, 27 assists and 11 digs. Stephanie Flores (Jr., San Antonio) led the squad with 15 digs, while Allie Murray (So., San Antonio) added 10.

Luisa Rodrigues (Sr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Kate Kershner (Sr., San Antonio) joined McCarver in being honored for “Senior Appreciation Night.” Rodrigues and Kershner had eight digs apiece on the evening.

Meanwhile, Stephanie Proske (Jr., LaGrange, Texas) hit .545 with a 6-for-11 clip.

St. Mary’s returns to the court Saturday, when it hosts West Texas A&M in its home finale.
