Laredo, Texas – The St. Mary’s University volleyball team continued its climb up the Heartland Conference standings Wednesday.

Led by senior Kate Kershner’s nine kills, the Rattlers swept Texas A&M International University 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-15), earning their sixth victory in seven matches.

Kershner, a San Antonio native, added seven digs, while Luisa Rodrigues (Sr., Belo Horizonte, Brazil) posted a team-high nine digs. Kori McCarver (Sr., San Antonio) recorded a match-high 27 assists.

St. Mary’s improved to 12-14 overall and 6-4 in the Heartland Conference, heightening its chances to advance to the conference tournament with just two conference matches left. The victory moved the Rattlers into a tie for third place with Newman and a half-match ahead of the University of Texas-Permian Basin.
