STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State University scored six unanswered runs to rally from a four-run deficit and defeated St. Mary’s University, 10-8, in non-conference baseball action Wednesday afternoon at Cecil Ballow Field.

The Rattlers took a 6-2 lead after three innings, thanks to a 2-run single by Tyler Migl (So., San Antonio) and a 3-run homerun by Greg Herbst (Jr., San Antonio). But despite 17 hits in the game, the Rattlers were able to score just 2 unearned runs over the last 6 innings, allowing the Texans to rally.

TSU scored 5 runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a 7-6 lead. TSU sent 10 batters to the plate in the innings and picked up 4 hits and 3 walks. The Texans added three more runs over the next two innings, then held off the Rattlers, who threatened in each of the final three innings, but only scored once. St. Mary’s left five runners on over the final two innings, and 14 in the game.

Ryan Morrow (Jr., Bulverde, Texas), Jason Garcia (Jr., Falfurrias, Texas), Herbst and Reagan Moczygemba (Jr., Bulverde, Texas) each had three base hits in the game to lead the Rattlers.

With the loss, St. Mary’s fell to 25-12 this season. Tarleton State improved to 19-20 with the victory. The Rattlers will return to action on Friday when they travel to Wichita, Kan., to face Newman University for a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
