MONTICELLO, Ark. – Mallory Moeller could probably get used to winning all of these awards.

The senior from Geronimo, Texas scored 20 points to go along with six rebounds and three steals to help the Rattlers soar past Southern Arkansas 72-60 on Saturday in Arkansas Monticello’s 3rd Annual Holiday Inn Express Classic at the Steelman Field House.

Moeller was named to the all-tournament team, this about a month after being named the Heartland Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player in volleyball.

Kristen Williams (Sr., Kansas City, Mo.) added 21 points and 10 rebounds to help the Rattlers (6-4) bounce back from a 70-55 defeat to tournament host Arkansas Monticello on Friday.

St. Mary’s cruised from the start, taking a double-digit lead over Southern Arkansas on Williams’ free throws with 13:54 left in the first half.

The Rattlers pushed the lead to 14 on a 3-pointer from Liz Boyd (So., San Antonio) late in the half to take a 31-17 advantage.

St. Mary’s maintained a healthy lead the entire second half, seeing the deficit cut to four on only a single occasion with six minutes remaining. But the Rattlers quickly pushed it back up to double figures, using a DeAnna Paterson (Jr., Converse, Texas) 3-pointer, a Boyd jumper and a Patterson layup to lead 65-54 with 3:23 left.

Patterson each made a pair of 3-pointers, finishing with 8 points apiece.

The Rattlers swept most of the important statistical categories, outscoring Southern Arkansas’ bench 33-6, winning the points-in-the-paint battle 44-18 and scoring 15 second-chance points compared to Southern Arkansas’ 9.
