San Antonio – The St. Mary’s women’s soccer team did not earn a tournament bid Monday, but there was news that came down later in the evening that reminded us all what kind of year the Rattlers enjoyed.

Ashley Condrin (Jr., Trophy Club, Texas) was named the Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.

Condrin, a midfielder, played an integral role in St. Mary’s shutting out St. Edward’s last week, helping lead the defense even as the Rattlers had to shuffle through two goalkeepers because of injury.

With Condrin emerging into a defensive lynchpin for the Rattlers, they were able to end the season by shutting out four of their final five opponents.

The award marked the second time this season that Condrin was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week. St. Mary’s finished the season with a 10-6-2 mark.
