San Antonio – Arlynda Flores hit her 21st homerun of the season, but that was one of the few highlights as St. Mary’s University fell to Tarleton State University, 6-1, 8-3, in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday afternoon at Rattler Field.

Flores (Jr., Uvalde) tied up the second game of the doubleheader with a two-run shot in the third inning. Flores remains second in the nation in homeruns, just one behind Sandy James of Angelo State University. But Tarleton State rebounded with two runs in the fourth and three more in the sixth on back-to-back-to-back homeruns to win 8-3. Sade Moore (Sr., Angleton) and Kelly Zamora (So., San Antonio) each picked up three hits to lead the Rattler offense.

Flores took the loss in game one, falling to 10-11 this season, while Taryn Munoz (Jr., Bulverde) was saddled with the loss in game two, dropping to 12-13.

St. Mary’s fell to 23-26 overall with the sweep, while TSU improved to 24-16. The Rattlers will return to action on Friday when they travel to Laredo to face Texas A&M International University in a Heartland Conference doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
