St. Mary’s University’s new Dean of Students Timothy Bessler, Ed.D. first day was June 30, 2009.
Bessler comes from the College of Mount St. Joseph, in Cincinnati, where he was Assistant Dean of Students. Prior to Cincinnati, he was the Director of the Center for Leadership and Transition Services at Barry University, in Miami Shores, Fla. He received his doctorate of education in higher education from Florida International University in Miami.
Bessler has more than ten years experience in the field of student development. He has designed and implemented student life programs that respond to a campus’ student characteristics and tendencies which have resulted in increased student satisfaction and overall retention. He has also researched and written on the relationship between a state and its private higher education sector.
Bessler’s leadership will contribute to the University’s mission of academic excellence by helping to provide students with an energetic, educational environment that engages them civically and spiritually.
