San Antonio – Kristin Chancellor and Adina Gray combined to produce 21 kills, helping Texas A&M University-Kingsville to defeat St. Mary’s University by a 26-24, 25-21, 25-13, in the final match of the St. Mary’s/Incarnate Word Regional Crossover Volleyball Tournament, played Saturday afternoon at Bill Greehey Arena.

Each of the first two sets were back-and-forth affairs, with a combined five lead changes and nine ties. However, in each set the Javelinas came on strong at the end to win the set. In the final set the Javelinas took control early and rolled to the win.

Leading the way for the Rattlers was Kirsten Chapman (So., Jourdanton), who had eight kills and two blocks. Mallory Moeller (So., Seguin) had a season-best six blocks and six kills. Stephanie Flores (So., San Antonio) led the Rattlers with 18 digs.

With the loss the Rattlers fell to 3-16 this season and have lost six in a row. Texas A&M University-Kingsville improved to 10-9 with the win. St. Mary’s will return to action on Friday, Oct. 9, when they host Texas A&M International University in a Heartland Conference match at 7 p.m. in Bill Greehey Arena.
