Canyon, Texas – Chastity Noble scored a team-high 13 points, including the go-ahead basket with 3:01 left to play, helping to lift St. Mary’s University to a 60-57 win over Angelo State University in a women’s basketball non-conference game Saturday afternoon at the Lady Buff Classic.

The Rattlers trailed for nearly the entire second half, before a late surge lifted St. Mary’s to the victory. Liz Boyd (Fr., San Antonio) gave the Rattlers a two-point lead with a lay-up at the 16:15 mark, making the score 27-25. However, the Rambelles responded with a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 37-29 lead. That lead would expand to as much as 11 points. The Rattlers started their comeback with 10:06 left to play.

DeAnna Patterson (So., Converse, Texas) started the comeback with a three-pointer and Lesleigh Phillips (So., San Antonio) followed with a layup to cut the deficit to single digits. That started a 19-6 run that ended with another Patterson three-pointer, making the score Paige Weishuhn gave the lead back to ASU, but Noble’s (Sr., El Paso, Texas) lay-up with 3:01 left started a 5-0 run that gave the Rattlers the lead for good.

Noble hit on 6-of-11 shots from the field to score her team-high 13 points. She also dished out six assists, had four steals and pulled down three rebounds. Mareta Bailey (Jr., Grand Prairie, Texas) scored 10 points and pulled down three rebounds. Patterson had eight points and six rebounds. As a team, the Ratters hit on 41.3 percent (26-63) of their shots from the field. They also outrebounded the Rambelles 39-36.

With the win St. Mary’s improved to 4-2 this season, while Angelo State fell to 3-3. The Rattlers will return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 1, when they host Our Lady of the Lake University in a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
