San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s basketball player Nick Morey was named second team All-South Central Region for his play during the 2008-2009 season by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Morey (Sr., Belpre, Ohio) received All-Heartland Conference honors for the first time this season. He leads the Rattlers with 15.9 points, 8.1 rebounds and is shooting 54.7 percent from the field. Morey has scored in double figures in 25 of 28 games, including seven with 20 or more points. He has nine double-doubles this season. He scored a season-high 25 points against Huston Tillotson University and Dallas Baptist University. He has pulled down a season-high of 15 rebounds twice this season as well.
Morey was previously named first team All-Heartland Conference and was named Heartland Conference Player of the Week once during the season as well.
The Rattlers produced a 17-11 overall record and a 12-4 mark in Heartland Conference play during the 2008-2009 season. Morey, Lorenzo Anthony (Sr., San Antonio) and Curtis Mitchell (Jr., Milwaukee, Wis.) all were named All-Heartland Conference this season.
