San Antonio – St. Mary’s University totaled just four shots and remained winless on the season, falling to the University of Central Oklahoma, 4-0, on the first day of the St. Mary’s Invitational Women’s Soccer Tournament, Friday afternoon at St. Mary’s University Soccer Field.

The Bronchos broke out on top in the 19th minute when Brittni Walker settled a loose ball bouncing through the penalty area and one-touched it past goalkeeper Mari Edwards (Fr., Apex, N.C.) for a 1-0 UCO lead. The Bronchos added to their lead just before halftime when Summer Grantham took a pass from Beth Helm, dribbled around Edwards and found the back of the net for a 2-0 Broncho halftime lead.

The Bronchos expanded their lead with a pair of goals late in the second half for the final margin. UCO outshot St. Mary’s 13-4 in the game and took five corner kicks to none for St. Mary’s.

With the loss, St. Mary’s is 0-5-1 this season, while Central Oklahoma improved to 4-3-1 and has won four matches in a row. In the first match of the day East Central University and Texas A&M International University tied at 1-1. The Rattlers will face East Central on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the final game of the St. Mary’s Invitational.
