San Antonio – All nine St. Mary’s University starters picked up at least one hit as the Rattlers rolled past Tarleton State University in non-conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Cecil Ballow Field.

The Rattlers ran out to a 10-1 lead over the first three innings and Tarleton never pulled closer than four runs the rest of the way. After the Texans cut the Rattler lead to 11-7 in the bottom of the sixth inning, St. Mary’s responded with five runs to put the game away for good.

Mark Herrera (Fr., Victoria) improved to 3-0 this season, coming on in relief in the fifth inning. Eduardo de Lachica (So., Sugarland) and Scott Shimek (Sr., Shiner) followed in relief with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief to preserve the lead.

At the plate all nine starters had at least one hit with six players picking up two or more base knocks. Weston Baros (So., San Antonio) continued his hot hitting over the last three weeks, going 3-of-5 with a homerun, three RBI and three runs scored. Tyler Migl (Fr., San Antonio) also had three hits, going 3-of-4 with a double, RBI and runs scored. Ryan Morrow (So., Bulverde) smacked his second homerun of the season and had two hits in the game.

With the win St. Mary’s improved to 27-13 this season, while Tarleton State fell to 20-24-1. The Rattlers will return to action on Sunday when they host Newman University in a Heartland Conference doubleheader at V.J. Keefe Memorial Stadium, starting at 2 p.m.
