KINGSVILLE–Texas A&M University-Kingsville had 48 kills against just 16 errors and posted nine blocks against St. Mary’s University in sweeping past the Rattlers, 30-21, 30-24, 30-27, in non-conference volleyball action Wednesday night at Kleberg Bank Court.

The Rattlers only had two leads in the first two games as they fell behind two games to none. In the third game they rallied and led 14-13 midway through the game. But the Javelinas went on a 6-1 run to take a 19-15 lead and never trailed again in winning the game 30-27, ending the match.

Samantha Weber (Sr., Fort Lupton, Colo.) led the Rattlers with 12 kills, while Kori McCarver (Fr., San Antonio) had 10 kills. Defensively Valerie Teter (Jr., San Antonio) had 23 digs to lead all players.

For the Javelinas, Sha Tramble had a match high 17 kills, while Shaday Smith added 10 kills. Defensively Tara Greier had 21 digs. As a team the Javelinas had nine blocks, against just two for the Rattlers. Kristin Chancellor had seven to lead TAMUK.

With the loss the Rattlers fell to 14-15 overall this season, while TAMUK improved to 13-11. St. Mary’s will return to action on Friday when they host Dallas Baptist University in a Heartland Conference volleyball match at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
