PORTALES, N.M.–Scott Kilpatrick scored his second goal of the season, but it wasn’t enough, as Eastern New Mexico University scored two first half goals and held off St. Mary’s University for a 2-1 win in men’s soccer action Friday afternoon.

Kilpatrick (Sr., Converse) cut the Rattler deficit to 2-1 on a direct free kick in the 53rd minute of the second half. But that was as close as the Rattlers would get in the loss. Goals by Cesareo Contreras and Ryan McClannahan in the first 31 minutes of the game were enough for the Greyhounds.

As a team the Rattlers took 12 shots, four on goal, while Eastern New Mexico took 12 shots, seven of which were on goal. Brett Collier (So., Schertz) took the loss in goal, allowing two goals, while making five saves.

With the loss St. Mary’s fell to 4-5-0 overall this season, while ENMU improved to 4-6-0. The Rattlers will return to action on Sunday when they travel to Canyon to face West Texas A&M at 1 p.m.
