San Antonio – Joe Dinkins led four St. Mary’s University players scoring in double figures with a career-high 14 points, helping the Rattlers to a convincing 87-52 win over Lincoln University Saturday afternoon in Heartland Conference men’s basketball action at Bill Greehey Arena.

Dinkins (Sr., Conroe) hit on 5-of-10 shots from the field to lead all scorers. He also pulled down a game-high eight rebounds in 25 minutes of play. Joining him in double figures was Jawan Bailey (Jr., San Antonio) and Robert Hawkins (Sr., San Antonio) with 13 points and Jarvis Lee (Sr., Houston) with 12 points.

The Rattlers never trailed in the game, but it took a 13-2 run at the end of the first half to give the Rattlers a 14-point edge at the break. In the second half the Rattlers completely dominated, expanding their lead to as much as 36 points before settling for the 35-point win.

As a team the Rattlers hit on 48.6 percent (34-70) of their shots from the field. They outrebounded the Blue Tigers 50-31 and forced 19 LU turnovers. They held Lincoln to just 37.5 percent (21-56) shooting from the field and 20.0 (3-15) from the field.

With the win the Rattlers improved to 13-9 overall and 6-3 in Heartland Conference play. LU fell to 5-16 and 2-7. St. Mary’s will hit the road for their next game, traveling to Dallas to face Dallas Baptist on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
