San Antonio – Jessica Harbin was named Heartland Conference Women’s Golfer of the Year, while three other St. Mary’s University student-athletes earned all-conference honors, it was announced recently by the conference office.

Harbin (Sr., Tuscola) earned first team All-Heartland Conference honors for the third straight season, and was named Heartland Conference Player of the Year for the first time, after winning the Heartland Championship on April 16-17. For the season she has won four tournaments and has a 75.76 stroke average, the second highest in the West Region. She finished third at the NCAA Division II West Regional Tournament Wednesday, qualifying for the NCAA Championships as an individual in the process. Harbin was also honored by the league office as a member of the All-Heartland Conference Tournament team.

Also earning All-Heartland honors on the women’s side was Amanda Anderson (So., San Antonio). Anderson had an 83.89 stroke average this season and finished 11th at the Heartland Tournament, one of four top-20 finishes for her this season.

For the men’s team, both KC Lim (Sr., San Antonio) and Jamie Amoretti (Sr., San Antonio) earned All-Heartland Conference first team honors. Lim picked up his third individual title of the season at the Heartland Conference Championships, shooting a three-over par 219 for the tournament. For the season he has a 74.43 stroke average, ranking him in the top 20 in the region.

Amoretti, the defending NCAA Division II National Champion has eight top-10 finishes this season to lead the Rattlers. He ranks fourth in the region and 32nd nationally in stroke average this season with a 73.12. He finished eighth at the Heartland Conference Tournament. He was named All-Heartland Conference for the second straight season.

Both the men’s and women’s teams will be in action next week. Harbin will compete as an individual at the NCAA Women’s Championship in Pensacola, Fla., on May 9-12. The men’s team will head to Muscle Shoals, Ala., for the NCAA South Central Region Tournament on May 7-9.
