San Antonio — The Lady Rattlers won their third straight game Friday afternoon, defeating Pittsburg State, 75-55, at the McDermott Center in the Incarnate Word Tournament.

St. Mary’s (3-4) has seemingly turned its season around since beginning the year 0-4, turning in yet another well-rounded performance.

Sophomore post Flavia Azinheira, who is averaging 20.2 points this season, notched another double-double against Pittsburg State, leading the Lady Rattlers with 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Azinheira has now scored 20-or-more points in each of the past four games.

The Lady Rattlers led 36-29 at halftime, but exploded to second half, grabbing a 63-36 lead following a 27-to-7 run.

Senior post Juliett Williams nearly also recorded a double-double, finishing with 16 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Natalie Gamez contributed 11 points, while sophomore guard Juanita Merchant went 2-for-2 from three-point land in her 6-point performance.

St. Mary’s finishes tournament play on Saturday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. at the McDermott Center on the campus of the University of the Incarnate Word. The Lady Rattlers return home on Dec. 6, when they take on Angelo State University at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
