The Lady Rattlers were on the brink of securing their first win of the 2005-06 season, but fell short to Lubbock Christian, 87-73.

Seniors Juliett Williams and Stephanie Rayos led St. Mary’s with 16 points apiece Tuesday evening at Bill Greehey Arena. Sophomore Flavia Azinheira also scored 14 in only 10 minutes of play.

St. Mary’s (0-3) trailed by eight points early in the first half, but came back and ended up leading throughout much of the half. The Lady Chaps made a late comeback, though, and took a four-point lead into the half.

Ultimately, Lubbock Christian guard Sierra Wilcox proved too much for the Lady Rattlers, scoring 26 points off four-of-five shooting from beyond the arch.
