The St. Mary’s University women’s golf team is in second place overall after Day 1 at the NCAA Division II West Regional in Las Cruces, N.M.
Cathy Carvajal is setting the pace for St. Mary’s as she sits in third place overall. She shot a 76 in the first round and a 76 in the second round for a +3.
Nicole Wyne (+7) and Marla Troester (+7) are tied for seventh place. Liz Reid (+8) is tied for 10th and Liz Brandt (+13) is tied for 28th place.
Northeaster State (Okla) is in first place with a +21, with the Rattlers in second with a +25. Estern New Mexico is in third with a +32.
Regional play will continue tomorrow.
The top two teams from regionals go on to the national championships in Orlando, Fla.
