Manny Hernandez scored 14 and Marcello Spatti added 13 as the St. Mary’s Rattlers upset the No. 19-ranked Tarleton State Texans 69-60 Tuesday (Nov. 23) in the Bill Greehey Arena.
J.J. Edwards had 11 points to round out the Rattlers scoring in double figures. The Rattlers outrebounded the Texans 35 to 23. Steve Goff led the team with 7 rebounds.
The Texans led through much of the first half, but Dominique Richardson drove to the hoop witn no time on the clock to tie the score at 31 at the half.
After a slow start, the Rattlers opened it up in the second half, taking the lead on a Spatti lay in and never looked back. St. Mary’s led by as much as 11 at one point.
The win was St. Mary’s second over the Texans in the last eight meetings between the two schools.
