San Antonio – St. Mary’s University men’s soccer coach Que Willis announced on Thursday the signing of Michael Hasbach to a national letter of intent to join the Rattlers, starting with the 2008 season.

Hasbach (Fr., Colleyville) was a three-sport athlete at Nolan Catholic High School, competing in cross country, football and soccer. He played for coach Adam Clementson at NCHS, earning all-district honors twice. He scored four goals and had 11 assists as a senior and tallied seven goals with eight assists as a junior in 2007. He was named junior varsity Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman and sophomore. He helped lead the school to a state championship in 2006, to the final four in 2007 and the regional tournament in 2008. Off the field he was a member of the National Honor Roll and was nominated as a National Youth Leader.

St. Mary’s finished 8-11 overall last season and 5-5 in Heartland Conference play, good for third place in the conference. They had wins over the University of the Incarnate Word and St. Edward’s University, both of whom were regionally ranked last season. The eight wins ties for the most since the 2002 season.
