Benefiting Holy Rosary Catholic Church
We’re celebrating 11 years of Running with Purpose! The StMU 5K for the Neighborhood is an annual 5K race and event on the St. Mary’s University campus. Each fall, hundreds of St. Mary’s University students, alumni, faculty, staff and community members come together to run or walk five kilometers on our beautiful campus, and to celebrate afterward with food, fun, music and fellowship.

The Restin’ Rattler
The Restin’ Rattlers are our race-day MVPs who choose to support the cause without showing up to the starting line. Whether you’re kicking back after work, stuck in traffic, or just not about that cardio life — this is your time to shine (from the sidelines).
By signing up as a Restin’ Rattler, you’re making a difference without the hustle — and helping us cut down on unused race swag that often goes unclaimed.
No running. No sweating. Just pure Rattler pride — from wherever you are!
What is the StMU 5K for the Neighborhood?
Proceeds from the StMU 5K for the Neighborhood are used to assist nonprofits serving the needs of residents in neighborhoods surrounding the St. Mary’s University campus.
Annually, Holy Rosary Catholic Church, which is administered by Marianist priests and brothers, and is adjacent to the St. Mary’s campus, receives $10,000 to enhance services and outreach programs in the St. Mary’s Gateway District. Past recipients include the United Way, the Neighborhood Place and St. Vincent de Paul Society. Proceeds from previous 5Ks improved family assistance programs and parenting education services for those in surrounding neighborhoods with limited resources.

What does it mean to Run with Purpose?
Through this race we continue our purpose to serve and support our neighbors. Proceeds from this year’s 5K will continue to support the partnership between St. Mary’s and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The church’s mission is to enhance services, outreach programs and the quality of life in the neighborhoods around the University.
