LAREDO, Texas – The Rattlers hit the road Saturday with Elisha Bryant geared to go.

Bryant (Jr., Plano, Texas) picked up two of St. Mary’s (0-4) total three points against Laredo Community College, but it wasn’t enough to earn its first win of the spring season, falling 6-3.

Kelly Cooper (Sr., San Antonio) helped her fellow Rattler Bryant go undefeated for the day as they picked up the point over Bianca Gonzalez and Emily Mattos in doubles, winning 8-6. Cooper and Bryant were the lone winners for doubles as Valentine Lambrechts (Jr., Belgium), Denissia Gonzalez (Fr., Houston) and Angelique De Oliveira (Sr., Wattrelos, France) and Huong Huynh (Sr., Houston) both fell 8-4 to Laredo Community College.

With a point already to her name, Bryant headed over to her single’s match with her undefeated hopes in sight. Bryant made a clean victory over Mattos with a 6-0, 6-0 shutout to earn her second point of the day, paving a path to a possible Heartland Conference Player of the Week award.

After a defeat in doubles, Huynh went to singles for redemption and did just that, earning the Rattlers’ third point of the day in a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Laredo Community College’s Gonzalez.

St. Mary’s trek for its first win of the spring season continues this Friday against North Central Texas College back on the Rattlers’ home court. They’ll begin at 2 p.m.
