San Antonio – St. Mary’s forward/center Kevin Kotzur missed just three shots last week. He put up 24 of them, mind you.

Not surprisingly, the junior from La Vernia, Texas has been named the Heartland Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for the sensational effort, the league announced Monday.

Kotzur averaged 24.5 points and 9.5 rebounds over two games last week, connecting on 21 of 24 shots to spur the Rattlers (2-1) to a 1-1 record over the week. He had a season-high 31 points, three off his career high, to go along with 14 rebounds in a 77-76 loss to Missouri Western State. Kotzur also averaged two assists and 1.5 blocks per game, with zero turnovers committed during the week.

Kotzur was a first-team All-Heartland Conference selection last season.
