Austin, Texas – Kori McCarver was probably too worried about trying to win the Heartland Conference Tournament this weekend to celebrate an individual award, but in time Saturday’s news will set in for the senior from San Antonio.

Heartland Conference Player of the Year. Let that sink in for a moment.

McCarver, a standout setter from Churchill High School, was awarded that honor from the Heartland Conference over the weekend. The two-time conference Player of the Week was joined on the All-Heartland Conference Volleyball team by fellow Rattlers Stephanie Proske (Jr., LaGrange, Texas) and Kirsten Chapman (Jr., Jourdanton, Texas).

For McCarver, the award caps off a season in which she has done everything for the Rattlers but set up and take down the net before and after games. Truth is, she might have even done that from time to time.

Dominating every kind of role asked of her, McCarver provided the Rattlers with a striking force to generate points, a terrific setup player and even dug balls when needed.

McCarver averaged 8.17 assists per set, 1.67 kills kills per set and 2.26 digs per set. Proske led the team with a .278 hitting percentage, challenging late into the season the program’s single-season record. Proske added 1.84 kills per set and 0.76 blocks per game.

Chapman led the Rattlers with 265 kills (2.17 per set) to go along with a team-high 115 blocks (0.94 per set).
