LAREDO – St. Mary’s University used a balanced and efficient attack to break a two-game losing streak and roll past Texas A&M International University, 25-13, 25-13, 25-17, in Heartland Conference volleyball action Thursday night at the Kinesiology Building.

The Rattlers totaled 37 kills against just 12 attack errors in the match. Six different Rattlers had four or more kills in the match, including Katelyn Kershner (Jr., San Antonio), who had a team-best seven kills and nine digs. Stephanie Flores (So., San Antonio) led the defensive effort for the Rattlers with 15 digs.

With the win, the Rattlers improved to 7-20 overall and 5-8 in Heartland Conference play. TAMIU fell to 3-27 and 2-11. St. Mary’s will wrap up the 2009 season against St. Edward’s University in Austin at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
