San Antonio – Kristin Williams was named Heartland Conference Newcomer of the Year, Liz Boyd received the Freshman of the Year award and Chastity Noble received first team All-Heartland Conference recognition in the 2010 Heartland Conference Women’s Basketball Awards, released on Thursday.

Williams (Jr., Kansas City) made an immediate impact on the Rattlers in her first season with the team. Williams is averaging 11.6 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. She has 10 double-doubles in 27 games. Williams leads the Heartland Conference in rebounding this season. In addition to the Newcomer of the Year award, Williams also received first team All-Heartland Conference recognition.

Boyd (Fr., San Antonio) was named Freshman of the Year after averaging 7.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.4 steals per game this season. She is hitting on 36.9 percent of her shots from the field, including 38.2 percent of her shots from 3-point range. She has scored in double figures 11 times this season, including a season-best 17 points against St. Edward’s on Feb. 11.

Noble (Sr., El Paso, Texas) is having a season to remember in 2009-2010. After averaging 6.8 points or less her first three years, Noble is scoring 11.1 points per game this season. For her play she was named first team All-Heartland Conference for the first time as a Rattler. She is fifth in the Heartland Conference in 3-point field goals made and 3-point field goal percentage.
