The 2025-2026 academic year was great for St. Mary’s University Athletics as four teams — Men’s Basketball, Women’s Golf, Baseball and Softball — made strong runs in the NCAA Division II postseason.

The St. Mary’s University Men’s Basketball team capped a strong season, earning a bid to the NCAA Division II Tournament before exiting in the second round.

The Women’s Golf team won its first Lone Star Conference championship and advanced to the 2026 Division II NCAA Women’s Championship, finishing third in Stroke Play and fifth in Medal Match play. Junior Taylor Wilczek finished as national runner-up, becoming the highest-ever individual finisher in school history.

The Rattler Softball team advanced to the NCAA South Central Regional tournament, losing their first game against the sixth-ranked team in the nation, Colorado Christian, but bounced back the following day to upset the two-time defending National Champion, UT Tyler. Their season ended after their second loss to Colorado Christian.

Finally, the Men’s Baseball team also played in their NCAA South Central Regional tournament, redeeming their Lone Star Conference semifinals loss to Lubbock Christian University by defeating them 6-2 on the opening day of the tournament and advanced to the winner’s bracket. Their season concluded when they lost their next two games to the top-ranked team in the country, Colorado Mesa University.
