Students in t-shirts listen to academic convocation.

St. Mary’s University will hold its annual Academic Convocation at 10 am. Monday, Aug. 13, to introduce new students to the traditions and expectations of the St. Mary’s academic community.

Christopher Frost, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, will give the keynote address about the characteristics of an education of value within the context of the Catholic, Marianist liberal arts tradition.

The ceremony in the Bill Greehey Arena in the Alumni Athletics & Convocation Center will include Music major Eva Alpar teaching the freshman class the alma mater, “The Bells of St. Mary’s.” Faculty will be present and wearing full academic regalia.

Fall semester classes for undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students begin Tuesday, Aug. 14. School of Law classes begin Monday, Aug. 20.
