St. Mary’s University has hired Curtis White as its first Vice President for Information Technology and Library Services. He started May 13, 2014.

White has been the Vice President of Information Technology at Ashland University in Ohio since 2003. Before that, he was employed at Collegis/SunGard Higher Education, Inc., and the University of Maryland University College in information technology leadership positions.

“I am honored to be invited to join the St. Mary’s University community,” White said. “The level of talent and dedication within the Information Technology and Library Services teams is impressive. I look forward to working with them and the other areas of the University to ensure we are prepared to meet the changing needs of our students, faculty and staff.”

White, a veteran of the U.S. Navy, received a bachelor’s degree in Business and Management and a master’s in Computer Systems Management from the University of Maryland University College.

“Curtis was very well received by the University,” said St. Mary’s President Thomas Mengler. “Members of the Search Committee, as well as other faculty, staff and students rated him as a terrific candidate for the position. We are excited about the opportunities his expertise brings as we pursue our educational and mission-oriented goals.”

White has advanced institutions’ information technology services throughout his career – most recently at Ashland University, which has about 2,200 undergraduate students, 4,200 graduate students and more than 20,000 professional development students in Ohio and Michigan. Ashland’s IT efforts include instructional technology/distance learning, infrastructure and security, client support and technical support (Help Desk), Web services, and administrative systems (Ellucian/Colleague).
