The San Antonio Women’s Chamber of Commerce honored Dayla S. Pepi (J.D. ’98), a clinical professor of law at the St. Mary’s University School of Law Civil Justice Clinic, on Nov. 7 with a Comet Award for outstanding female leaders who advocate, connect and empower women in the community.

Pepi was one of four women recognized with a Comet Award at the Annual Constellation of Stars Awards Gala held at the Oak Hills Country Club.

Since joining the Civil Justice Clinic as a fellow in 2000, Pepi has served as a supervising attorney to second- and third-year law students who provide legal assistance to indigent clients primarily in the areas of family law, probate law and other general civil matters.

Pepi has also lectured nationally and internationally on matters relating to battered immigrants, and she has appeared on national and local television and radio shows to discuss those issues. A graduate of what was formerly called Southwest Texas State University, Pepi worked in private practice in San Antonio before joining St. Mary’s.
