Six Bill Greehey School of Business students have received scholarships totaling $10,000 from the Insurance Council of Texas Education Foundation.

The Education Foundation provides scholarships and academic funding to junior and senior students from a selection of 10 Texas universities,. The funding helps purchase supplies, books and study materials for students studying insurance and risk management.

Seniors Eraquio Ramos and Brian Garcia were granted $1,000 each, and seniors Ruth Torres and Antonio Lafuente and juniors Rogelio Hernandez and Brian Drew were granted $2,000 each. The students are all Finance and Risk Management majors.

“We are very proud that the Insurance Council of Texas recognizes the quality of our Risk Management program and of our students, and that they are so generous in their support,” said David W. Sommer, Ph.D., Professor and Charles E. Cheever Chair of Risk Management. “Each year, these scholarships provide deserving students studying Risk Management at St. Mary’s with valuable financial help that assists them with completing their degrees.”
