GOODWELL, Okla. – With numerous players missing from the lineup, the Rattlers knew they needed someone to step up with an even-bigger-than-usual effort Thursday night.

That someone was Allie Murray.

Murray, the senior setter from San Antonio, was two digs away from the rare triple-double in volleyball, leading St. Mary’s to a 3-0 Heartland Conference win over Oklahoma Panhandle State at the Oscar Williams Field House.

Jenna Paul (Fr., Alvin, Texas) led St. Mary’s with 12 kills, but it was Murray’s 10 kills, 25 assists and 8 digs that fueled the Rattlers to their sixth straight win. The victory improved the Rattlers’ (9-5 overall) conference record to 3-2, putting them in sole possession of fourth place in the conference race.

Victorria Martinez (So., Arlington, Texas) had a team-leading 12 digs for the Rattlers, who won the match 25-15, 25-16, 25-18. Karlie Ortega (Jr., San Antonio) and Melissa Dahle (Jr., San Antonio) added 11 digs each.

But it was Murray who stole the show the Rattlers, hitting .500 with 18 total attacks and just a single error.

St. Mary’s will be back on the court Saturday, traveling to Lawton, Okla., for a non-conference match against Cameron.
