San Antonio – Last year’s Heartland Conference Freshman of the Year has added another award to her impressive résumé.
Victorria Martinez, St. Mary’s talented sophomore, has been named the Heartland Conference Libero of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Martinez (Arlington, Texas) averaged 6.80 digs for the Rattlers last week, totaling 68 as the Rattlers split road matches against Texas-Permian Basin and McMurry. Her week was highlighted by a 35-dig performance in a victory over the Falcons.
As a freshman, Martinez led the Rattlers with 548 digs, setting the stage for her to earn the league’s Freshman of the Year honors.
Martinez and the Rattlers (3-5, 1-2 in conference) will return to action Tuesday, when they host Texas A&M International at 7 p.m. at Bill Greehey Arena.
