San Antonio – Up against one of the top teams in the Heartland Conference in Dallas Baptist on Saturday, the Lady Rattlers were trying to claw up the league standings.

And they were doing it without their leading goals scorer.

But with Leia Kirch sidelined for the entire second half with an injury, the Lady Rattlers’ offense couldn’t get untracked, falling 2-0 at the Northside ISD Soccer Field.

Dallas Baptist’s Lindsey Eccles scored in the 14th minute and Lea Sedwick, who assisted Eccles’ goal, added another in the 54th minute to propel the Patriots. Dallas Baptist improved to 11-2 and 5-1 in conference, while the Rattlers fell to 6-6 and 1-5.

Dallas Baptist outshot St. Mary’s 8-7 and also had an advantage in the foul count in the second half, seeing a 10-3 edge in that regard.

St. Mary’s keeper Alyssa Taramona (Fr., Forney, Texas) saved four shots on the day.

Kirch (Sr., Carrollton, Texas), who missed the second half, leads St. Mary’s with seven goals this season.
