San Antonio – A third Rattler from the St. Mary’s men’s tennis team can now call himself an award-winner.
Andrej Klipa (Jr., Belgrade, Serbia) has been named the Heartland Conference Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Klipa went 2-1 in singles competition and also went 2-1 in doubles play in last week’s matches against Cameron, Newman and Our Lady of the Lake. Teaming up with Marcin Marczewski (Sr., Warsaw, Poland), Klipa played on the Rattlers’ No. 1 doubles squad while hitting No. 3 in singles competition.
Klipa joins Carlos Olea (So., Matamoros, Mexico) and Marczewski as Rattlers who have won the award under first-year coach Lisa Dausin this spring. In all, the Rattlers (5-9, 3-1 in Heartland Conference) have taken home four of the six weekly awards handed out.
