San Antonio – During team introductions Thursday afternoon, St. Mary’s striker Leia Kirch was inadvertently skipped over as the Lady Rattlers prepared to take on Oklahoma Christian.

But by the end of the match, everyone in attendance at the Northside ISD Soccer Field certainly knew who Kirch was.

The senior from Carrollton, Texas scored a pair of goals, fueling St. Mary’s past the Eagles 2-0 in non-conference action before about 50 fans.

Kirch first struck 10 minutes into the game on a 24-yard free kick, and added her second of the day and an unassisted lob from just outside the box.

Alyssa Taramona (Fr., Forney, Texas) pitched a shutout in the net, collecting her second victory in three games as the Rattlers improved to 4-3 on the season.

St. Marys dominated all facets of the game against their future Heartland Conference foe, outshooting the Eagles 15-1 and registering three corner kicks to their three.

Kirch led the Lady Rattlers with five shots in the game, four of which were on goal.

St. Mary’s will be back on the field Saturday, when it hosts Newman at 12 p.m. at the same site.
