AUSTIN, Texas – Chris Becker’s blistering second-round score at the St. Edward’s Invitational left him in contention for the individual title going in to Tuesday’s third and final round.
The senior from San Antonio shot a 1-under-par 71 in second round Monday, putting him in a tie for sixth place with a score of 147.
As a team, the Rattlers enter Tuesday’s action in seventh place with a score of 611. Nova Southeastern University leads the team standings at 588, while Barry University’s Daniel Stapff is in first place individually with a score of 137.
Matthew Van Winkle carded scores of 75 and 76 for a total of 161, leaving the freshman from Castroville, Texas in 16th place. Kyle Becker (Fr., San Antonio) is tied for 35th with a score of 155, while senior Sam Jernigan of San Antonio shot 158. Richard Dutchover (So., Pecos, Texas) rounded out the Rattlers’ squad with a solid showing of 170.
The third round will start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start from the Grey Rock Golf Club.
