AUSTIN, Texas – St. Mary’s senior post Kristen Williams scored a career-high 32 points Saturday, helping the Lady Rattlers get a big bounce-back victory over St. Edward’s University.

Overcoming a halftime deficit, St. Mary’s won 63-53 to stay right in the thick of the hunt in the Heartland Conference race.

Down 26-21 at halftime, the Rattlers (13-9 overall, 5-2 in Heartland Conference) blitzed the Hilltoppers in the second half to rack up one of two triumphs for St. Mary’s on Saturday in the “Battle of the Saints.”

The Rattlers trailed by as many as nine in the second half, including a 44-37 deficit with 11 minutes left. But that’s when they went to work, going on a 21-3 run to open up an 11-point advantage with 2:28 left.

Williams, a senior from Kansas City, Mo., went 13 for 18 from the floor and added eight rebounds in the unforgettable performance. Mallory Moeller (Sr., Geronimo, Texas) added nine points.
