San Antonio – We’re in!

After waiting a full week to learn their playoff fate as other leagues wrapped up their conference tournaments over the weekend, the St. Mary’s softball team finally learned Monday it had earned a bid to the NCAA Division II South Central Region Tournament.

Hunched over a computer inside the St. Mary’s athletics offices, the Lady Rattlers’ coaching staff got the news while watching the NCAA’s official selection show at 9 a.m.

It marks the 10th time in 11 years that the Lady Rattlers have qualified for the regional tournament under legendary head coach Donna Fields.

St. Mary’s (35-19) will play host West Texas A&M (44-15) in Game1 of the South Central 2 Regional Tournament at 7 p.m. Friday in Canyon, Texas. The winner will move on to play at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The tournament will run from Friday-Sunday.
