AUSTIN, Texas – The St. Mary’s volleyball team stood side by side with St. Edward’s early on Thursday, taking the Hilltoppers right down to the wire in the first set.

But St. Edward’s got the better of St. Mary’s from there, winning 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-16) to maintain control of the Heartland Conference.

Stephanie Proske (Sr., La Grange, Texas) led the Rattlers (13-6, 3-3) with 11 kills while hitting .381, and Allie Murray (Jr., San Antonio) recorded team highs in assists (29) and digs (15). Victorria Martinez (Fr., Arlington, Texas) matched Murray’s dig total.

With the loss, St. Mary’s lead over Texas-Permian Basin and Dallas Baptist for fourth place in the conference standings dropped to half-a-game. St. Edward’s (10-8), meanwhile, extended its conference-leading record to 6-0.

St. Mary’s will travel to Dallas to take on the Dallas Baptist Patriots at 12 p.m. Saturday.
