Once again, St. Mary’s has been included on a national list of top colleges and universities dedicated to volunteering and service. The USA Today College website posted on June 15 what it considered the best 20 higher education institutions when it comes to service, and St. Mary’s was listed third.
While the post did not say exactly how the schools were selected, it suggested that it should be considered “a listing of some more inspiring school out there” when it comes to service to the community.
In the past year, St. Mary’s has been named first in the nation among master’s institutions for promoting service, civic engagement and social mobility by Washington Monthly magazine, been awarded the Civic Engagement Classification by The Carnegie Foundation, and most recently was awarded the Presidential Award by the President’s Service Honor Roll.
