Sister Grace Walle, F.M.I., St. Mary’s University School of Law Campus Minister, has been selected by the San Antonio Bar Foundation as the 2011 Peacemaker Award winner for individual service. She will be honored at the 2011 Peacemaker Awards Mardi Gras Brunch on March 5 at the St. Anthony Hotel, 300 E. Travis.

The San Antonio Bar Foundation has recognized ‘local heroes’ deemed the best in legal, public service and educational communities at their annual award ceremony since 1995. According to the Foundation, Walle will be acknowledged for her ‘lifelong dedication to pursuing justice and peaceful resolutions while honoring the dignity of all people has affected and improved thousands of lives.’

Winners in other categories include Judith Markelz, director of the Ft. Sam Houston Warrior and Family Support Center and David Jayne, co-founder of the Texas Burn Survivor Society.

Proceeds from the 2011 Peacemaker Awards Mardi Gras Brunch will benefit the Bexar County Dispute Resolution Center’s Amigos in Mediation (AIM) Program, the Bexar County Community Justice Program and the San Antonio Bar Foundation endowment that supports conflict resolution programs and other charitable and educational programs.
