San Antonio – It’s fair to say St. Mary’s softball player Kelly Baker had a lot on her mind Saturday, what between graduating and continuing to count down the hours to see whether the Lady Rattlers would officially earn a bid to the NCAA South Central Region Tournament.

And the senior catcher even managed to add one more item to her already busy plate.

Baker was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Second-Team, her second time making the team. She was named to the First Team as a sophomore in 2009.

Baker, an exercise and sport science major from Arlington, Texas, was awarded the honor for maintaining a 3.82 grade-point average over four years at St. Mary’s.

On the field, Baker has been just as decorated, making the All-Heartland Conference team for the fourth straight year this season. She was named to the Second Team, as she also was in 2008 and 2010. She made the First Team in 2009.

Baker hit .255 with 27 RBIs this season, while also belting four homers and scoring 20 runs.

As for whether the Rattlers will qualify for the regional tournament, they should receive an official answer by Sunday evening.
