WICHITA FALLS, Texas – The St. Mary’s softball team wrapped up the Midwestern State University Invitational with a 3-1 mark Saturday, beating Delta State 3-1 and Central Missouri 1-0 at Mustangs Park.

Against Delta State, Alex Garcia’s two-run single spurred a three-run first inning, paving the way for the victory.

Garcia (So., San Antonio) went 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run scored, while shortstop Richelle Morales (Jr., San Antonio) and third baseman Chelsea Wenske (Sr., Victoria, Texas) also drove in one run apiece.

Crystal Keller (So., Castroville, Texas) picked up the victory to improve to 2-2 on the season, striking out four in four innings. Maricela Bissaro (Fr., San Antonio) earned the save with one strikeout and one run allowed in three innings.

Against Central Missouri, one run in the second inning was all St. Mary’s needed behind Emily Brittain’s (Fr., Corpus Christi, Texas) complete-game shutout. Kelly Baker (Sr., Arlington, Texas) scored the only run on an error in the second inning.

St. Mary’s is 23-14 on the season.

The Lady Rattlers will play Central Missouri at 4 p.m. today.
